Not a fan of thick formula...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's that kind of nail polish that goes on messy. No matter how hard you try. It's kind of goopy thick but it only takes two coats to get completely opaque. The redeeming quality is that after you put it on your nails and the polish that got on your skin wears away, your nail looks pretty good then. It dries evenly and it dries fairly fast it's just not my preferred formula. It's the messy part that really bothers me. Maybe if you're really really really good and nail polish you might get it to work without making a mess but if you're not then you're just going to have to deal with that and getting it off your skin after you apply your polish.

Why change did Essie change Sugar Daddy color?

I’m a professional manicurist for over 25 years and one of the polishes I use the most is the “original version” of Sugar Daddy. It’s been a main staple color in my kit because its sheer peachy pink looked amazing against all skin tones and great on camera for the commercial production shoots I work on.
You can imagine my surprise and disappointment when I discovered a new Sugar Daddy color at my beauty supply. I thought it was a mistake in the dye lot so I went to other stores looking for the original. No luck.
I decided to try this new version and it does not compare to the original.
Please bring back the original Sugar Daddy color.

I'm normally one to stick to the classic red, or dark maroon colors. I love a darker shade on my nails as I have fair skin and lighter colors can tend to wash out and not pop as much. But, this Spring I wanted something different so I thought I'd try out this color and I LOVED it! I bought a bottle for myself the very next day and wear it all of the time. It's a color that has some brightness and liveliness and still pops against my fair skin but isn't too in your face which is great! Perfect color for Spring and Summer...and for those days in Fall and Winter when you need a bright pick me up :) DEFINITELY try out this color for your next mani.

I have 128 Essie's in my collection, and I've had this one for a while now. It has a slightly sheer formula but it is not hard to apply at all. In fact, the sheerness adds dimension to the polish. I think that 3 thin coats or 2 thick ones cover the nail completely, smoothly, evenly. It is a perfect polish for nail art because it could be sheer or opaque depending on how you layer it. However, I personally think it looks best on its own. This is definitely one of my favorites from Essie and one of my all-time favorite polishes. A nail artist (@pictureperfectpolishblog) on Instagram did some gorgeous nail art with it that I enclosed below.

I bought this yesterday and gave myself a manicure last night. It is the sheerest, prettiest pink color. This is like my own natural nails only better. I've heard that before, but in this case it's true. I used 3 coats over a base coat and then used a top coat. My nails look healthy, groomed, and beautiful. It really is streak free and not too milky. Will I buy again? Yes.
I am not the best at home manicures, but my nails look as good as if they were done in a salon. The polish dried fast and is streak free. Most nude polishes I've tried require 3 coats to hide the streaks, and then they look too milky/opaque. Sugar Daddy is a miracle in a bottle.

Good colour bad formula

The colour is a great dark red but you need a lot of coats to achieve that colour ( 4-6). Even after all the coats it's still uneven and you can see lighter parts and the dips of your nail. It chips VERY easily. It's is very expensive for the quality you get. If you get it on your skin ( which you will because the brush isn't very good) it stains you skin a reddish pink colour. It is one of the hardest polishes to use and to make look good but it is a nice colour. I don't think I'll be getting many more products from Essie. There are better nail polishes that are less expensive and last longer out there and will more worth your money.

When it first came out I loved it so much that I bought 2 bottles. I left 1 with the manicurist so I always had it when I wanted it. She kept it hidden for me. Unfortunately, I was unable to find it for awhile so I was using up my supply. The manicurist asked her supplier and they did not have the color, never did. She was so disappointed. So many of her customers asked for it when they saw it on me. I eventually got her a bottle. She was so happy and so were her customers. I wear this color all year round. It goes with everything. I have been using Essie polishes for a while now and this formulation is just as good! The brush works very well and glided on very nicely. I found it very easy to apply. The dry time was also pretty quick and if you apply thin layers, you can reapply. I liked the colour a lot! It has a nice sparkle to it. I think it would also look nice as a top layer for another pink colour if you want a nice sparkle. The colour is not fully opaque so it can be used by itself or on top of another polish if you wanted to add glitter. I liked the colour a lot!

Amazing pastel color, perfect for spring

A lot of beauty gurus on youtube were raving on this so I bought one off Amazon. I'm a loyal Essie fan and have at least 30 nail polishes from Essie, but I do notice that the formula of essie tends to be different for some colors. This one in particular is extremely creamy and takes much less time to dry than many other colors and I am sooooo impressed. It looks like a minty green in bottle but when on your nails it will lean towards a Tiffany blue color.
I've never had a chipping problem with Essie since I always use a base coat by Butter London, a top coat by Seche Vite and drying drops by OPI, This combination works great with almost any nail polish.

The perfect French manicure white

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the perfect white for a French manicure! It has a great consistency, not too thick and not too thin, perfect for beginners for painting their nails! It applies evenly and self levels pretty well on its own. One layer is all it takes for the perfect French manicure, and two layers for the full nail. I find that this formula works well with my body chemistry and lasts quite some time, but I love to change up my nails quite often, so I can’t speak too much on longevity because I usually take this this off within 3 to 4 days. Since it is a creme, removal is very easy. I also enjoy using Essie’s brush, it is not too skinny and has a nice paddle shape.

Such a great white polish

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Now that I am a professional cosmetologist and I’m licensed in nails I primarily use gel nail polish. I don’t love that standard nail polish takes forever to dry and you have to be very careful for a while so you don’t smudge it. I was so pleased when I tried this white nail polish. The first coat of nail polish on my daughter looked absolutely phenomenal, and I was shocked how fast it was drying. This product was so easy to brush on the nails and looked so amazing after one application. I’m super impressed and can’t wait to paint my nails some more. The white pigment of this nail polish was unreal and looks absolutely beautiful.

Pretty close to perfect pink

I adore this shade, I picked it out of the huge range of Essie pinks because it was just the right balance - soft but bright not too peachy but not too blue-based. While the shade is my perfect pink, the opacity could be a lot better. You can't wear it as a sheer because if it's not full coverage it's streaky and patchy, but it takes 3-4 coats for full opacity - and with so many layers it takes forever to really dry! Luckily for the time and effort put in it holds up well to wear, I do normally get a full week out of it with only minor tip-wear. While I love it for myself, with the low opacity and long drying time I could never recommend it for salon use.

Fun and Flowy!

My ex boyfriend bought me this nail polish color about two years ago (when we were dating obviously) and I was really surprised because he has always seen me with more modest shades (not sparkly at all!). Anyways, I was very sketchy about this shade until last week when I decided to give it a try, it's not as if it's permanent or anything.. aaaand I really liked it! the color is dramatic yet fun and eye-catching, it was really easy to apply it since it's very flowy, non-sticky, non-gooey (thank God!)...I see a lot of women with this color also, day or night, although for me preferably wear it at night, for clubbing or what not :)

Love this snow white shade!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Blanc 008 nail polish is a true snow white shade, the creamy texture applies evenly specially over a base coat, two to three thin coats are enough for an even finish otherwise it can look a bit streaky, it has a beautiful finish with just the right amount of shine, I rarely go for a plain white mani, but this shade is so versatile, ideal for French tip as well as a base for designs. It lasts about a week before showing signs of chipping, the brush is good quality and applies the product evenly, and dries fairly quickly!
Overall, Essie polishes are quite reliable, offer good coverage, and come in amazing shades.
A must try!

This is a brilliant true red! Beautiful colour and it doesn't have these blue undertones many others have.
It's vibrant enough for getting compliments but not overwhelming.
You actually can get away with one coat. It's creamy, not streaky, dries fast. I still do two coats though.
Lived for 4 days, then minimal tipwear.
It's perfect....well until you try to take it off.
It runs anywhere, my fingers where red after getting it off my nails. It is probably also difficult to correct small errors because of that.
Be sure to use a Base Coat and take some time to remove it. You'll need it.

Lovely, feminine color

I am super picky about light pinks. Muchi, Muchi is not my absolute favorite pink from Essie, but it is always a good choice! The formula is very sheer, so it takes three to four coats for full opacity. I think it would be lovely to wear as a sheer, but it is a bit streaky in the first two coats. I wore it recently because I love wearing pinks at reds in February for Valentine's Day. It works well in the winter, but it would be perfect as a spring color. It's slightly brighter than a pastel, in my opinion, so it provides an excellent pop of color. This is a great pink if you want something that is feminine, yet eye-catching!

Chalky and messy!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Essie Original nail polish color Blanc along with the Essie Break Fix nail polish, so I used them both together. I currently use some of the Essie Quick Dry nail products and I l personally tend to gravitate to the darker shades of nail polish. The Blance color just doesn't do it for me at all. It doesn't apply to the nails like the other nail polishes I've used. It comes out very chalky, and way too messy for me. It doesn't dry quick on the nails at all. It doesn't wear well, and took a long time to dry for one coat. There's no durability or strengthening to this nail polish. I don't recommend this product!

It should flow easily onto the nail in thin layers. After 2 coats your color should be perfect and dried within a few minutes. After applying your top coat, the color should look great throughout the week.

The perfect taupe, FINALLY

I really would not call this "light tan" as the description does, nor can I imagine any skintone for which this is a "nude." It's much grayer than either of those would suggest. But I've been looking for the perfect taupe for ages, and gone through almost all the Essie colors in that family (Mink Muffs, Ladylike, Merino Cool, Mochacino, Chinchilly, etc.) - all are too gray, or too brown, or even too purple.
This is subtler, lighter, and that hard-to-define, elusive, perfect taupe. It's not THAT pale - I wouldn't consider it a pastel - but it's also not super saturated. Incredibly pleased they've brought out this color!!

Cute Color Streaky Formula

I was in the market for a coral shade for Summer, and I was down to either buying this or a Sally Hansen product. I ended up going got this one because I liked the slight red undertone to this color. However, now that I've used this color I wished I had gone with Sally Hansen. The reason? This nail polish is streaky! Even though the polish is pigmented, I had to put 3 coats of polish on in order to cover up streaky bald spots. For the price of Essie I shouldn't have to put up with that in order to paint on a cream polish. I love Essie's colors, but I have never found a cream polish from their regular line that I have liked.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a great opaque nail polish. I just love this brand! This goes on smooth and seems like it levels out evenly. I know it’s not self leveling but it seems like it just lays so nice on the nail once you swipe it on. I used two coats and it’s solid white. It doesn’t stay tacky, either. You can do one layer, wait like ten minutes and then another and it dries completely. I’ve always loved this brand, it’s one of the best out there. It stays on the nails and doesn’t chip off easily. Seems to last a full week before having to remove it and do them again. Also can use it for french manicure tips if you know what you’re doing.

I Look Tan!

This color is such a pretty, clean white. The brush always feels comfortable. I thought I was going to get away with just one coat, but it was still showing imperfections. Two coats is the sweet spot and I also applied a clear top to seal it in and for some extra shine! This nail polish usually lasts me a few days before it starts chipping, I can’t ask for more! Most impressive to me is how bold the color is…it’s actually making me look tan! Removal is always super easy with nail polish remover! Love Essie 💅

The Best Birthday Present!!!!

I love this shade! I received it as an early Birthday present today, along with two other shades (as if I need more Essie nail polish!), and am using it on my fingernails to wear out for my Birthday tomorrow! It creates a beautiful shimmering effect, as if I have pearls on the ends of my fingers! All I am going to add is a coat of Essie Gel Setter for some more shine and I'll be all set! I put a lot of time and care into my natural nails and only want to put the finest nail polish on them!
Note: I did have to add a few more coats than usual for a solid color, but one or two coats would make for a fantastic sheer look!

Pretty in pink!!

This is my new favorite!!!! Even though I usually opt for the brighter hot pinks and magentas, I was looking for a nice pale soft pink. I hesitated with this one for fear that it would be too sheer and neutral. Let me just say I was pleasantly surprised!!! It was exactly what I was looking for and more- one coat was all I needed to get the desired color. Even after accidentally smudging one nail, it was barely noticeable once it set.
The only thing I would suggest changing is its name to something like pink candy heart or ski bunny- because that is exactly what it reminds me of. The perfect icy pastel pink for the winter and going into Valentines Day and the spring.

Essie has to be one of the most consistent brands with all their products across the board, I don't think I have ever had a complaint about one of their products. I enjoy the shaped flat brush as it makes application easier and less messy. The drying time for a regular polish is way faster than normal but not instant so you won't get those weird streaks from not moving fast enough. Now this will be my second favorite polish color from Essie because it's highly pigmented, "licorice" (black) and this "blanc" (white) are one coat wonders! The photos attached are only 1 coat, really!

Its a cloudy/milky white colour that can be layered to create a sheer or opaque look depending on preference. Apply 2 coats for sheer finish, and 3 for an opaque look. It dried quickly thanks to its thin consistency and left a shiny and streak free finish; which is a game changer for me. I wore socks and shoes the following day and it didnt get ruined!!! A bit disappointing

I bought this color as my first Essie nail polish just yesterday. Painted my nails in the evening when I came home and 2 hours later the nail polish already chipped off the tips of both of my ringer fingers and my left index finger. Me not happy at all!
I'm also not too impressed with the consistency of the nail polish. I put 2 coats of color and the consistency is not even. It might be that the polish is too watery, I really don't know.
I really like the color though and will definitely persist with this nail polish for a while to see if it gets any better. Not happy though, I really expected much much more!

I started using this nail polish about six months ago. How I have been able to keep my manicure fresh looking is in the application. I apply a clear base coat. After it has dried for a couple hours I followed by a thin first coat of color. I allow about 4-6 hours for first color coat to dry before applying the second coat of color. Allow second coat of color several hours to dry before finishing with clear top coat. Remember to cover nail tips with all coats as well as underneath the nail when applying clear base and top coats. Using this application method my nail job lasts at least two weeks before I redo it.

I got this color as soon as it came out, I have been searching for a green that I actually like for ages and Off Tropic fits the bill. I have a love/hate relationship with most greens, I like them but not for everyday wear. I bought Mojito Madness to do a Halloween Nail art and haven't touched it since. I put on Off Tropic the day that it came in the mail and fell in love. I love the darkness of the polish but it is still a distinct green. I added a bit of Set in Stones around the tip of my nail and it is gorgeous, I got compliments on my nails all day long. Definitely one of my top five favorite Essie colors.

A perfect, vampy red for fall!

I have tried many different red nail polishes from various brands in a search for the perfect deep, dark red wine color that's always in for the fall season. This one remains at the top of my list! The formula is incredible, the color is absolutely knock-out gorgeous, and it's buildable, but not sheer. Two coats won't make it look black (an issue I've had with other nail polishes this shade), but one coat won't leave it too sheer. I'm someone who is always changing nail colors, but if I had to limit myself to two or three nail colors per season, this would be my go-to for the fall. I'm in love with this color!

Best non-streaky white nail polish

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A one coat white nail polish? Im sold. This essie nail polish in the shade blanc is my absolute staple!! It’s the most pure white color, no hints of any other shades which I love. It’s not streaky at all, instead you can easily apply it with one dip and it applies so seamlessly. I only have to apply one layer which I love! It makes it so easy to do classic white nails but it also is the perfect white for french tips as well. It dries down quickly, and lasts a while, about a week, before chipping which is great longevity for a normal nail polish. It has a nice subtle shine too, I liked how it applied so much!

Hey beautiful ladies! I bought this Wicked color from essie about a few weeks ago. I must say i am truly happy i did. The color is to die for and oh so perfect for fall. I applied two coats and i was in love it dosnt chip fast like other brands and has a nice vibrant touch to it ,it is one of my top fav,... but then again its so hard to choose because this brand in general has so many beautiful color for every season. I highly recommend this color and brand in general I have even had to tell the salon where i go to pick up this brand and all their colors! Now they do and i can have my beautiful nails painted at home and or my salon so i am one happy women lol ! lots of love cc

As an Essie diehard with many dozens of colors, I'm pretty loyal to a couple old standby shades already. But Off Tropic might be my new go-to. It's super rich and luxe looking, and the fact that it's so dark and glossy means that one coat is enough. In fact, if I'm wearing another color and it starts to chip, I'll paint a coat of Off Tropic over it and it really camouflages imperfections underneath amazingly well.
I also didn't realize how versatile this shade would be. It's not so dark as to be mistaken for black, but it's also not too loud for even stuffy work environments. Plus, this deep green is a great seasonal color for both winter (Christmas!) and summer (tropical!)

Dark and edgy

I got my nails painted in this color at a salon almost a week ago, and I absolutely love it! The woman at the salon put on a base coat, two coats of 'wicked', and a top coat. It has been five days and I've only had one or two small chips. Just a word of warning, I know some polishes that look dark in the bottle can be kind of sheer on the nails and be lighter. That is definitely not the case with this color, and it got even darker with the second layer. It is a very dark red that looks kind of black in most light lol. I love it though because it is a nice vampy color that is perfect for the holidays and won't/fall seasons, although I'm definitely going to wear it all year round!

This was the very first essie shade I ever used, it was given to me as a stocking stuffer last christmas from my sister. I fell instantly in love I loved that it was simple enough to use every day and just pretty enough to leave on when I went out on a date to dinner or a concert I simply touched up my manicure at home and didn't have to worry about it not mashing my outfit or makeup. Not to mention the nearly unexacting time it takes to dry so no smudges or getting on my clothes. So thank you :) I have since bought nearly 12 other shades and I love them all I cannot wait to get the new shades my current favorite is Mojito madness I love the compliments :) Keep up the good work!

First of all let me say that it was pretty hard to chose just one color. I am a fanatic when it comes to manicure and pedicure, I visit beauty parlors every week, even when I travel I do my research ahead and I call to ask if they have essie nail polish! In particular this shade! If they don't, I bring mine with me! The reason I love this shade is that it is very versatile, I like the naked feel of my hand, it looks classy and clean, it looks as if it's coming out of a jewelry add. I've been looking for this color all my life! It's here! One of the reasons I love essie is that it lasts perfectly for the whole week with all my showers and cooking!
