Not Chrome

I usually really love Essie polish, espicall any with glitter bc they are so attention grabbing. But Cosmic Chrome is a major disappointment. I have tried it with a variety of base nail color, plain, iridicient, pastel, and just a base coat, it really doesn't show up. And when it does it is just a thin layer of silver (very pretty), nothing chrome about it. It is very smooth and easy to apply, but it doesn't seem to help with chrome's opacness. And if there are any specific technique about using this, I wish it is more readily available bc I cannot figure it out and I have done a lot of nail arts in my time.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Cool effect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love that Essie has been a constantly innovating and trying out new products for over a decade. This chrome effect polish is VERY fun. I tried it alone (index finger in attached photo) and paired with another staple Essie polish in my collection (ring finger) and love the application of both! The chrome effect polish, like Essie’s other polishes, seems to last moderately long (about a week) and dries relatively fast (and even less time with a quick dry top coat). Overall, a really fun new polish from Essie and I want to try more from this line!

This stuff is super cool! The combination with a pastel color, like the mint I’m wearing it with, makes my nails scream 90s iridescent style. It doesn’t show up as silver at all, which was my worry. It’s much more of a pearl look.
I love it! I hope it lasts! It looks perfect with bright or pastel colors. I’m not sure how it would look with a darker color, but I’ll definitely find out this winter!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The left is without the cosmic chrome topcoat, the right is with. You can see it’s a subtle difference over an existing nail polish color. It’s lasted 8 days without much chipping. It goes on lightly over another color and just changes it slightly. I added a clear top coat over it just to make sure it stays. I do like this cosmic chrome topcoat and it will look nice over a variety of colors. Essie is great quality nail polish.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVE the rounded brush, it makes it much easier to get close to the cuticles and get a clean look. Excuse the swatches, I wanted to try them out as soon and I received them! They cosmic chrome polish is a delightful sheer color than go be used on its own for a nice wash of shimmer, or used on top of a solid color such as mint candy apple. They dried quickly and were smooth upon application. I would recommend.

The color is super vibrant and has this cool metallic finish that totally pops. Plus, it goes on really smooth and lasts for ages without chipping. Short dry time also! I also feel like it would look really nice on a white polish for a glazed donut effect as always with Essie polishes this is high-quality and easy to apply and last a super long time I’m so excited to try this topcoat on so many other colors!

Fast drying

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tested this color with 2 coats and then because it’s labeled as special effects, I tried to see if a design would work… it did not work. I will say it dries faster then the last time I’ve used Essie and that was years ago! So I give it a good rating for faster drying and it would make a good color if you want a nude like effect or just to add to a ring finger.

This nail polish was super easy to apply. The brush was very smooth. It takes a little bit of time to dry, but that’s any nail polish. Definitely going to be one of my go to colors this summer!!

However, this product is not quick to dry as advertised. It also bubbles up after application. It was very disappointing. It lasts about as long as other polishes.

Seems to strengthen my nails

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This polish really makes a difference for the top coat , application is so smooth and this doesn’t take long to dry , alone it doesn’t add much color but as a top coat to a color it’s a huge difference. It has actually helped my nails grow and stop breaking off because they were so brittle .

This chrome effect is subtle and more of a topper than something to use alone. It is best with more than one coat too to see the effect. I get 3-4 days of wear before chipping.

I have a French manicure over it and after two coats you can still see the French white portion which came out like a very nice silvery French. The application was super easy since color comes in very light and super fast to dry.

And this color is very soft and shiny, just one coat looks amazing, but if I apply it in the top of another colors looks much better. It drys so fast, and is very easy to remove.

You can use it alone or use it on top of another color and create a different effect. It is easy to apply and dries quickly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unfortunately, I did not find anything special about this Essie Special Effects Cosmic Chrome polish. I layered this over Essie’s Mint Candy Apple and it barely made a difference. It is a very subtle chrome effect and is too frosty in my opinion.

Not very pigmented

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Based on the picture I expected this nail polish to be super grey and glittery but when I painted it on my nail it came out almost clear. It has a slight shine. If I were to use this again I would use it as a top cost and not a base.

This special effects polish in Cosmic Chrome doesn't perform as I thought it would. It doesn't set, and stays tacky. Had to remove and repolish nails. Quite disappointing as chrome powders are messy.
